Ben Carson Just Destroyed Joe Biden’s Mental Capacity…

Dr. Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon and former Republican presidential candidate, cast doubts on President Joe Biden’s mental fitness during an interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation, pointing to his frequent gaffes as evidence the president is not all there mentally.

Biden has been known for his frequent verbal mishaps and misstatements throughout his career in politics.

In recent years, he’s made headlines for saying America “was founded by geniuses” in response to a question about climate change, and saying that “no one’s ever asked me to commit suicide” when asked about stances on gun control.

Carson said he believes those kinds of gaffes are indicative of someone who’s not thinking clearly or whose brain is “not functioning correctly.”

"I don't want to make a diagnosis on him but we really should be in a place as a nation where we're willing to do mental status tests on our leaders, particularly our president, on an annual basis," Carson said. "And if they can't pass that mental status test, action needs to be taken."

Carson spoke about his concerns about Joe Biden and his fitness for office before he made the comments about Trump. The former neurosurgeon did not want to give a formal diagnosis of Biden’s health, but he called for mental status tests to better evaluate those in leadership positions, specifically the president.

The apparent gaffes that Carson cites appealingly support the conclusion of incompetency in Biden's mind, but fail to ever provide actual evidence of incompetence. It feels like confirmation bias.

And yet, further research shows Carson is not alone in believing Biden's slips indicate a fundamental problem with mental fitness. This line of reasoning does raise an interesting question: what makes a person qualified to hold public office? It's a question worth asking, particularly in this political environment.
